How to Pose for Corporate Headshots
Figuring out how to pose for corporate headshots can be tricky! You want to look professional yet approachable… Smart yet friendly.
The way you pose can change the whole feeling of the shot! And ultimately, you want these photos to entice potential clients or partners to do business with you.
One of the biggest advantages of having a professional corporate headshot photographer taking your business photos is that we’ve got a really good idea of what works and what doesn’t.
I’ll help you pose just right. But here are a few things you may want to take into consideration to get the most natural photos possible!
Choose Your Location
Where you get your photos done can make a huge difference in how to pose for corporate headshots.
For example, setting up inside your office means there’s likely to be a desk in the shot. Which means we can have you posing behind the desk, or sitting casually on the desk corner. If you have a couch, we can do a seated shot, which may be more relaxed and natural.
On the other hand, if you want something a little more fresh and with a natural twist, outdoors could be a good choice. In these cases, you’ll most likely end up posing in a standing position or leaning on a balcony style shot, with a blurred background.
To Smile or Not to Smile
Are you on the serious team or the smile team? Ultimately, it depends on what you want to portray in your photographs.
A smiling face indicates trustworthiness and approachability. But some people feel that it’s a little too informal, especially if your business is quite a professional one.
On the other hand, a serious face looks professional and business-like. Too serious, though, and some may perceive you as being a little unapproachable.
In the end, it really depends on your brand and what sort of vibe you want to give off in your corporate photographs. The good news is that we can play around with both until we find something you like!
Props or No?
Depending on what your business is exactly, you may want to have your employees posing with some sort of relevant prop.
For example, if you’re sitting at a desk, you might want to be posing with your laptop, or with a desk pad and pen.
A construction company may choose to have their employees photographed with their hard hats, or holding a blueprint.
If you’re an e-commerce business, it may be a good idea to have everyone holding a different product!
Or, you can simply opt for the good old classic, no props, just people. Again, it really depends on what you’d like to achieve with your photos.
