About City of London

The City of London, commonly referred to as “the Square Mile,” is a historic borough situated in central London, acting as both the financial heart of the UK and one of the world’s leading global business centers. Established by Roman settlers around AD 47–50 as the settlement of Londinium, the City has a rich heritage spanning nearly two millennia. It retains many historic landmarks, including St Paul’s Cathedral, the Tower of London, and Guildhall, juxtaposed against iconic contemporary structures such as the Gherkin, the Walkie-Talkie, and the Cheesegrater. Distinct from metropolitan Greater London, the City holds unique governance arrangements, led by the City of London Corporation. The borough hosts global financial institutions, banks, international corporations, and the London Stock Exchange, reinforcing its prominence as an economic powerhouse. Notable historical figures linked to the City include Samuel Pepys, known for his famous diaries recording the Great Fire of London in 1666, and Sir Christopher Wren, architect of St Paul’s Cathedral. Today, approximately 8,000 residents contrast starkly with the daily influx of over 500,000 workers and visitors, confirming the City of London’s enduring significance as both a financial capital and cultural landmark.

I’ve worked in historic buildings, The Savoy, Australia House, the NEC and even the Emirates Stadium, so I’m used to adapting to my environment get the most powerful photographs of a conference in any setting. I also work as a City of London event photographer, capturing events, industry parties and trade shows throughout the city and further afield.

My aim is for the conference to run as if I am not there, I use cameras with a silent shutter system so no one gets distracted and I don’t draw attention to myself during quieter moments. I photograph the speakers, audiences and interactions between people without staging or influencing them at all. I can take posed group photos if needed, but I’ll get the most authentic overview of the conference when people just enjoy themselves and don’t feel forced to smile.

I also offer corporate headshot photography and corporate photography services that might be of interest if you are looking specifically for pictures of yourself or your colleagues for use on your website, LinkedIn, or for branding purposes.
